Welcome to Brentwood!  While only 2.5 square miles big, Brentwood plays an integral part in the metro St Louis area.  Founded in 1919, Brentwood has had a varied history.  During Prohibition, its Southern edge was known as a racy, wild area.  Today, it´s noted for shopping, from the Galleria Mall to both mega and tiny strip malls to boutique stores (even though The Galleria and part of the rest are actually located in Richmond Heights, not in Brentwood, many people presume that they are in Brentwood!).  After a long day of shopping, take time to sit and unwind at one of its many coffee shops and small bakeries.

One interesting tidbit about Brentwood that a lot of people are unaware of, is Brentwood Lake.  In the mid 19th century, pigs wallowing struck a wet spring, resulting in a 1 acre lake being forms.  Today, Brentwood Lake is a great place to go and watch the goldfish and relax.  Brentwood has joined with the cities of Maplewood and Richmond Heights to establish an outstanding Parks and Recreation Dept.

The population of Brentwood in 2005 was 7,693.  The city boasts approximately 4,000 homes, 3,000+ of which are lived in by their owner with another 880 or so being rented out.  The median household income in 2005 was $50,643, while the average home price was in the mid $250,000 range.  Brentwood has its own highly rated Brentwood School District.  Much smaller than many of the St Louis metro school districts, it translates that into more attention to the children.  Brentwood is considered part of the Central Corridor.  It´s a quick hop onto Highway 40/64 to get anywhere in the metro area.  Want to avoid the highway?  Check out 170 or Brentwood Blvd to get North or South or Manchester, Clayton, Page or Olive to go West or East.

Brentwood also has its own Fire Dept and Police Dept.
